A person born abroad to a Portuguese mother or father may have a route to Portuguese nationality of origin. The current official guide explains that the route is completed by registering the birth in Portugal or declaring the wish to be Portuguese. The exact evidence still depends on the family record and the parent's Portuguese registration.
