Portuguese Nationality Documents for UK Applicants

How UK certificates, apostilles, Portuguese records and form versions fit into a direct-child nationality file.

A straightforward adult direct-child file commonly starts with the applicant's full UK birth certificate, the Portuguese parent's civil-registration details, identity evidence and the current route-specific declaration.

UK records may need legalisation. The UK government publishes current certificate and apostille charges, but each cost should be confirmed when the order is prepared. English-language documents are not automatically sold with translations: the current adult 1C form says English, French and Spanish translations are normally dispensed with unless requested.

Every case should record the source used, the document version, custody, supplier reference, checks, and whether apostille or translation is actually required.

Official sources: order UK certificates, legalise a UK document, and IRN translation guidance.
