UK document workflow

UK Documents for Portuguese Citizenship

The opening workflow supports UK-issued civil records. A standard GRO certificate currently costs £12.50 with an index reference and an FCDO paper apostille costs £45 per document, before delivery. The approved plan decides which documents actually need ordering and legalisation.

Document lifecycle

  • Identify the exact civil event and registry source.
  • Verify the record before ordering.
  • Receive and quality-check the certificate.
  • Obtain the required apostille.
  • Translate only when the approved rule requires it.
  • Record custody and link the document to the application claim.

Name and parentage chains

An extra marriage, divorce, adoption or name record may be needed when the applicant's current identity does not connect cleanly to the birth and Portuguese civil records.

Live supplier prices

Published supplier prices are stored with retrieval dates. The customer proposal uses the current price and keeps EUR and GBP costs separate rather than hiding an exchange-rate assumption.

Common questions

Should I apostille every certificate?

No. The final requirement is route-, document- and receiving-authority-specific. The approved plan should explain why each apostille is needed.

Should I translate every UK certificate?

No. The current 1C instructions normally dispense with English translations unless requested, but the reviewer can require one for a particular document or case.
